Sometimes it’s hard to find something geeky to do that would also be interesting for my daughter. As she likes Star Wars movie, I definitely had to do something related to it. I’ve bumped into some Star Wars cookie cutters on Ebay and decided to give them a try.
I won’t lie, it was obvious from pictures on Ebay that those cookie cutter shapes just remotely remind Star Wars figures: Darth Vader, Yoda, C3PO, Chewbacca. But that can’t stop our imagination =)
(original source – allrecipes.com)
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.
We were just following the instructions below and experimenting with dough thickness. If you’re having troubles getting dough out of cookie shape, it’s probably too thick.
After sending the first batch to oven, we waited patiently for 6-8 minutes for it to get ready. Cookies were pretty good, and after finishing the first batch, we’ve done couple more, even added some sprinkles =)
Making cookies is easy and fun way of spending time with your kid.
