Okay, okay, this is not a REAL expedition. It’s just a small road trip. But one day we will get to real expedition, on a real expedition rig. This was a two day weekend trip with one night stay in the hotel. The plan was to visit Clear Lake, Glass Beach and Safari West.
Last Black Friday was really successful for me as I’ve managed to find a deal for DJI Phantom 3 Standard. It set me back for $499. The nice thing about Phantom 3 is that it comes with a 3 axis gimbal and camera. The drawback is that you can not swap the camera on your own. But for the price it did not make much difference for me. Here are couple sample videos
It’s been a while since we went for a trip. We’ve finally decided to go camping for a weekend. One of our regular challenges is to choose a campground. There are so many of them in California and we’re always afraid to make a wrong choice. This time, I’ve suggested just to chose a direction, not a destination. we’ve packed all gear, food and water and headed north.
Our daughter, Kate, is 3.5 years old. It is always a challenge for us to send her to sleep. It’s really hard for her to slow done. She always wants to have more fun or hear more stories instead of sleeping. And even when we succeed with making her fall asleep, it often happens that she wakes up in the middle of the night and migrates to our bed. My wife believes that it is caused by some micro-environmental changes in her room: humidity, temperature or something else. It sounded like a challenge for a geeky dad, and I’ve decided to build sensor board that would be collecting certain metrics in her room throughout the night.
Thursday is Dad’s Cooking day at our home. Usually I’m not planning ahead, and when time comes, I just open fridge to see what ingredients we have and then I search for an easy and interesting recipe. Today I’ve chosen oven roasted chicken wings in honey-soy-ginger sauce.
I was always attracted to the idea of autonomous robots and clean energy. And when I’ve bumped into this DIY 6 In 1 Solar Educational Kit at about $6 per item, I couldn’t just walk away. I thought it would be fun for me and a good introduction to electronics and solar energy for my daughter. So, here it is, the first review on my blog.
